Brand story
From the ballet stage to the beauty institute
Maria Galland was a passionate ballet dancer before she turned to skincare. Dance gave her a belief in the energy and expression of every woman, and a feeling for movement that still shapes the house's treatments, performed by the therapist's hands as a choreographed sequence.
After qualifying as an aesthetician she began receiving clients in a small consultation room in her apartment in the Marais. Convinced that beauty care should rest on science, she persuaded dermatologists, chemists and physiologists to work with her, and set up her own research laboratory and production.
In 1962 she opened her first beauty institute on Rue Chateaubriand in Paris, with products and treatments under her own name, beginning with Crème No. 5. Her Mosaic Modelling Method, a precise skin analysis followed by zone-by-zone care and a modelling mask, helped make the professional facial a discipline of its own, and it remains the signature of the house today.
The house believes that in skincare, time is an ally: simple essentials, used consistently, for results in the short and the long term. Each product carries a number, its place in "The Code", so a therapist can build a routine that fits each client exactly. Formulas are made in France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
